Newbery Award for Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, 1976

Coretta Scott King Award, Let the Circle Be Unbroken (1981), The Friendship (1987),  and The Road to Memphis (1990). (Taylor won several Coretta Scott King Honor Awards for other books).
